My mother and I are getting along rather well- I thought I would post an old photo of us together- at Trisha's Wedding last year

Time for our Annual Fishing trip out in Long island.
I am trying to get my Father, Mother, Brother and his wife to come down for the event.
My Mother has never been out on the island before. My brothers wife is coming over from Sicily next month and we are hoping to all meet up out there.

My first blogg in months…..a lot has happened in that time.
The big news is this; I am going back to school for my Masters in teaching. I am very excited and looking forward to it. This is going to be a great thing for me.
I also lost my job at town hall which is also a great thing. Being a civil servant is not what it is cracked up to be. I was miserable down there. I worked for 6 months as a provisional employee, meaning no time off and no benefits. The system was so slow. I took the exam back in April and got the results back 3 months later. I passed. I still had to wait to see if there was anyone else on a list who wanted the job there. They told me there were 3 people on it and they needed to write them and ask if they wanted it. When it came time to send the letters out, there were actually 125 people. So, they lied to me. People in the other offices acted like grade school children who would back stab you, refuse to help you in anyway and delay sending paper work out for you. There was a lady who was responsible to send out my resume and tax papers to the state and it took her 2 months. When we asked her why she had not done so, her reply was this “ Do you need me to do it right now? Why is it so important? (When the paperwork was received to the county I would have had a higher raise and days off). What a lazy inconsiderate woman! We also had an incident where we brought down a $15,000.00 deposit to the same office and we gave it to them to deposit. ( we get a receipt in our mail box a few days later because they are too busy to give it to us right away). A month later when the auditors were there, they called us up and said they never got it. we wrote down who we gave it to and the time and date for our records, but because it was never deposited, they pointed the finger to us and said they never got it. they cover their tracks to not get in trouble. We had to call all the people and ask for replacement checks, that took weeks. People were so angry at us, and it was not our fault. This is the type of bullshit that I had to work with on a daily basis.
Thus the pay, the pay was so horrible it wasn’t worth it. My boss was a complete asshole. He never did anything. He would sit in his office with paperwork stacked up to the ceiling and clip his fingernails all day, or disappear.
They told me the reason why I was terminated was because I took a few days off (emergency) and that it was not approved. Six months and never allowed to take time off. I sent them an e-mail when I got to my parents house and let them know where I was and to contact me. My boss told the person whom I sent it to not to respond. So, in actuality I did the right thing and that their reason behind firing me was a total lie.
I am happy to be out of there. I have a smile on my face and I know that the negativity is gone, though they are the ones I feel sorry for. Everyone is so miserable there. They really have given up with their lives and know no other way of life. That’s what’s to sad about it all. So, take my advice, don’t ever get a civil servants job, it will rot your soul-
