I love “THE SOUP” TV show these days. A few years back there was a show called Talk Soup, which The Soup is the same thing, different host. It is a weekly rundown of funny things that were shown on TV shows.
This week’s episode was too much. Though there was a clip that I thought was a classic Jerry Springer moment, though it was on Morrie. There was a black woman who wanted to know the father of her child so she came on to give test results to the suspected father.
Here is the kicker, she came on once, twice, three times, four, five, six, seven, eight times to prove that the guy was the babies father. Now each time she came on there was a new guy and when the tests came out that he was not the father she would cry and throw herself on the floor. So, you think eight times is a charm, think again. She was on for the ninth time with a new guy to prove to the world that he was the Father of her child. Well, you know the outcome. I think reality shows like this is great entertainment. Why? Because there are far too many people in the world, so for the chosen few, Thank you for making my life happier and full of laughter!

As traditionally domineering husbands reach retirement age in Japan, the wives of as many as half of them may suffer some degree of Retired Husband Syndrome (rashes, ulcers, other stress symptoms), according to an October Washington Post dispatch. Said one morose, 63-year-old woman, "I had developed my own life, my own way of doing things, in the years when he was (working long hours)," but, she told the Post, she now can't stand even to look at her husband across the dinner table and sits at an angle so she can stare out a window instead. According to psychiatrists treating RHS, the numbers may soon explode further unless husbands lower their expectations of spousal servitude. [Washington Post, 10-16-05]
Probably the most notorious example of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's under-preparation for Hurricane Katrina was the over-ordering of 91,000 tons of ice cubes intended to cool the victims and their food and medicine. One now-famous truck, for example, picked up 20 tons of ice in Greenville, Pa., drove to a Carthage, Mo., FEMA facility, then to Montgomery, Ala., for a day and a half, then to Camp Shelby in Mississippi, then to Selma, Ala., then to Emporia, Va. (where it idled for a week to keep the ice frozen), and finally to Fremont, Neb., where the ice was put up for storage. (Update: On the day that Hurricane Wilma hit Florida in October, FEMA acting director David Paulison proudly noted that because of the over-ordering for Katrina, plenty of ice was on hand after Wilma.) An Associated Press investigation revealed in September that $5 billion in Small Business Administration loans authorized in the wake of Sept. 11 was so poorly managed that businesses close to New York City's Ground Zero went begging for money while thousands of businesses throughout the country got emergency loans by creatively describing how they were hurt by the Islamist-terrorist attacks. More than 130 franchised fast-food shops; dentists and chiropractors; a South Dakota radio station; a Utah dog boutique; and a Virgin Islands perfume shop were among those who got the mostly guaranteed loans. SBA admitted that it assigned some ordinary loans to the 9-11 fund on its own and generously accepted others' 9-11 "qualifications." [Richmond Times-Dispatch-AP, 9-9-05]
Clumsy People With Guns (All-New)
The following people accidentally shot themselves recently: a Fond du Lac, Wis., man, in the abdomen, while using a screwdriver to dislodge a round from his pistol (August); a Nacogdoches, Texas, woman, in the foot while trying to kill a snake on her property (September) (and the same woman, again trying to kill a snake, shot herself in the other foot the next day); a Tennessee Highway Patrolman, in the leg as he holstered his pistol while chasing a fleeing suspect near Maryville (August); a teenage boy, in the leg while fleeing after robbing a food store in New Caney, Texas (August); a 33-year-old Milwaukee man, in the leg while fleeing after robbing a man on the street (October). And Danny Walden, Taylorsville, Ky., was shot by the rifle he had set up in his home as a booby trap to protect his 115 marijuana plants (October).

Tonight is a big night.
Let me start at the beginning. When we moved to our street – it was a bad one. Our neighbors to the right of us dealt drugs, had garbage in their backyard, and front yard and had a population problem. The street was also known to be the late night spill of the numerous bars from Main Street. Fights, sex, and broken bottles were a nightly occurrence. If it wasn’t for the spacious apartment we would not have moved in.
We formed a neighborhood watch program with others on the street and we managed to help the police bust up the 2nd largest drug ring in Nyack. So with the dirty neighbors now gone we are faced with a new issue, which begins tonight. Directly behind our house is a fire house equipped with an old fashioned fire alarm. This alarm is so loud and piercing that when it goes off and if you are in the back yard, you have to go inside until it is over. It is not a normal alarm that has a long stream of noise, this one actually sounds like the horn at a soccer match. When the fire alarm goes off they have a series of codes that they use. More disturbing is when the first series of codes goes off (around 9 or 10 times) they repeat it one more time. We are so close to the city and also the Threw way that if there is an accident or an actual fire, they use it. Just imagine sleeping in on a Sunday morning and then hearing the alarm go off at 4 am. Forget going back to sleep after that.
So tonight we are meeting with the fire chief in regards to the noise pollution. I have done an extensive amount of research and we are ready. There was a gentleman that lived on the street last year who took the reading of the noise. He moved away, but our chairwoman ran into him today and he is giving us the information he has. He went to the village hall last year and they dismissed his findings on the fire alarm because he was one guy. So there are many of us that will be attending the town meeting on Thursday with his information as well as our own.. We not only have the meter reading but also healthy alternatives to a better response system for the fire department to use.
Also there was a house directly behind us that was sold to the fire department. They tore it down and now they are tarring down the old fire house (tomorrow) and rebuilding it behind us. The fire alarm will be shut down for 9 months. So I am happy that the guy gave us the information before this happened. There also are reports of Rats and bugs coming out of the fire house. When they tare it down those vermin will affect us. So, this is going to be a very busy week, one that I hope is positive. I will keep you updated.

On a lighter note, I have been working on my little children’s book. I have picked out 3 old photos from the 1800’s of two women and a demonic looking child. The story is coming along smashingly. – a little secrete. It centers on the three women. They live together and all suffer from Phobias that conflict with the other person. It’s another dark comedy. Very much the same as my others, but the photos are priceless and were actually real people. I will post it when it is done as well as the photos. Hopefully I will have this done by December. I will keep you all posted.
I have no excuses. I will try hard to post everyday.
Thanksgiving
This is going to be an interesting one at my parents this year.
The usual group of people will not be attending. Also, my Grandmother will not be there due to her passing. How sad.
My brother and his lovely wife will be up from VA and Sicily. Sasha and I will also be there for the second time. We tend to not celebrate this Holiday due to the meaning as well as the Huge amount of food. We will be celebrating our 5th year together. When we first met we went out for Sushi on Thanksgiving. My mothers Sister and Boyfriend will be coming as well as her Brother and his wife. There daughter, robin, my age will also come with her two kids, one of which I have not met yet. Cool.
And in lue of the festivities, my father will be making the Deep Fried Turkey. Last year I posted a Picture of a dead Possum and I showed it to my Grandmother inside and told her that was dinner. She laughed. It will be an interesting Thanksgiving, though the only thing missing is the Tranquilizers for my mother.
Christmas will be different also. My brother and his wife will be returning to Sicily. Sasha and I will be heading out to the island. While my parents will be getting back from their fist Cruise to South America. We Hope they can come down and spend it with Sasha’s family. I hope so.
